Terms of Service - Cert Badger

1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using Cert Badger ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Cert Badger is a certificate transparency monitoring service that:

Monitors public Certificate Transparency (CT) logs for SSL/TLS certificate issuances
Detects potential typosquat domains similar to your monitored domains
Discovers subdomains through certificate analysis
Performs uptime and health checks on your domains
Sends email alerts for certificate events and downtime

The Service monitors publicly available data from CT logs. We do not access private certificates or internal systems.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes. Specifically, you must:

Only monitor domains you own or are authorized to monitor. You must have legitimate authority over or responsibility for any domain you add to the Service.
Not use the Service to conduct reconnaissance for malicious purposes
Not use the Service to stalk, harass, or harm individuals or organizations
Not attempt to circumvent usage limits or abuse the Service
Not use automated scripts or bots to access the Service beyond normal API usage
Not resell or redistribute the Service without authorization

We reserve the right to terminate accounts that violate these acceptable use policies.

4. Account Responsibilities

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials
You must provide accurate contact information for alerts to function properly
You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account
You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account
Account sharing between organizations is not permitted

5. Service Limitations

You acknowledge and agree that:

The Service monitors public CT logs and may not detect all certificate issuances immediately
Uptime monitoring is provided for informational purposes and does not constitute an SLA guarantee
Alert delivery depends on email infrastructure and may be subject to delays
Typosquat detection uses algorithmic analysis and may produce false positives or miss variations
We do not guarantee 100% service availability

6. Payment Terms

For paid subscription plans:

Subscriptions are billed monthly or annually as selected
Payment is processed securely through Stripe
You may cancel your subscription at any time; access continues until the end of the billing period
Refunds are not provided for partial billing periods
We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days notice
If payment fails, we may suspend access until payment is resolved

7. Intellectual Property

You retain ownership of any domain names and data you provide to the Service
We retain ownership of the Service, its features, and underlying technology
You grant us a limited license to process your domain data to provide the Service
Certificate data from CT logs is public information and not owned by either party

8. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CERT BADGER AND ITS OPERATORS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:

Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
Loss of profits, data, or business opportunities
Damages arising from missed alerts or undetected certificate issuances
Damages caused by third parties (including attackers who register typosquat domains)
Service interruptions or downtime

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Cert Badger and its operators from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.

10. Termination

You may cancel your account at any time through your account settings
We may terminate or suspend accounts that violate these Terms
We may terminate the Service entirely with 30 days notice
Upon termination, your data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy

11. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email or through the Service. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws. Any disputes shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation or, if necessary, binding arbitration.
